Olympiacos 0 Arsenal 3: Talking Points

Arsenal’s Giroud stepped up to the challenge when Arsene wenger’s men came calling at the Karaiskakis Stadium .Coming into the Game , which many dubbed as a winner take all match Olympiacos needed just a draw or to lose the Game by just a single goal.

Clearly Marco Silva’s men had their work cut out for them.  unlike their opponents Arsenal had to score 2 – 0 in order to qualify to the last 16.

Arsenal showed class an resilience even when all odd’s where against them and the Man leading the Charge was Oliver Giroud who was the hat trick hero combining  well with other unsung heroes of the last night’s victory.

Arsenal have garnered a tag of 'heroic failures' on Europe's biggest stage in the last few seasons, and with good reason.
BAD HISTORY IN THE UEFA KNOCK OUT STAGES
In 2012-13, they were 3-1 down after the first leg of their last-16 tie against Bayern Munich. No one expected them to make a game of it in Bavaria, but they won 2-0 to bow out with their heads held high.
Last season was a carbon copy. A 3-1 defeat at home against Monaco, followed by a 2-0 win, and spending the rest of the season wondering what might have been.
Going into tonight's game - it had that feel about it. A 'brave' victory on the night, but going out on a technicality.
Giroud and co smashed that theory out of the park with some emphasis, and they will be hoping to finally get over the last-16 hurdle this time around after five consecutive exits in the first knockout round.

This victory for Wenger’s men could be just the confidence boost they need as they go to Aston Villa over the weekend to try and go top on the table before Leicester’s home game with Chelsea
