Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal has confirmed a triple
injury boost ahead of Wednesday's UEFA Champions League clash against PSV
Eindhoven.
Reds strikers Wayne Rooney and Anthony Martial are in line for a
return after missing the weekend win at Watford and Marouane Fellaini will
provide another option for the boss. However, Phil Jones and Ander Herrera have
been added to the list of absentees after picking up knocks at Vicarage Road.
"I'm
very happy to tell you that [they can return], more or less, because you never
know as they haven't trained so much this week and also before this week,
Rooney is recovered and Martial can play," he told MUTV.
"Fellaini can play. So that's great news, I think.
"Jones and Herrera cannot play. It's too soon because they
also need recovery time. So I have five injured players." Luke Shaw,
Michael Carrick and Antonio Valencia also remain on the sidelines but the
manager explained Bastian Schweinsteiger only missed Tuesday's open training
session because he is having a recovery day and he should be available for the
Old Trafford encounter.
James Wilson could return to the squad as he is back in training
after suffering a swollen knee ahead of the Watford game.
The Reds will qualify for the knockout stages if a victory is
achieved against the Dutch side, who won the corresponding fixture between the
two sides 2-1 at the Philips Stadion.
